Policy innovations for food systems transformation, building resilience and adapting to climate change
Date: Tuesday, November 23, 2021
Time: 13:00 – 15:30 UTC
Since 2017, the Malabo Montpellier Panel has analyzed the policy and institutional innovations across seven thematic areas, including nutrition, mechanization, irrigation, digital agriculture, the energy-agriculture nexus, livestock, and trade. Our analyses have shown what some countries have done to achieve sustained progress, and based on those findings, our recommendations show how this success can be replicated and scaled up across the continent.
The 9th edition of the Malabo Montpellier Forum will unveil A Monograph, a report bringing together the findings from the seven reports the Panel has published between 2017-2020. This combined piece will provide a practical guide to African governments seeking to accelerate progress towards ending hunger and transforming their food systems.
The Malabo Montpellier Forum provides a platform to promote policy innovation by using the evidence produced by the Panel to facilitate dialogue and exchange among high-level decision-makers on African agriculture, nutrition and food security. Meetings of the Forum are guided by the technical reports prepared by the members of the Malabo Montpellier Panel.
By inviting NGOs and the private sector to participate in discussions, the Malabo Montpellier Forum creates a space for African leaders to exchange directly with non-state actors on issues of strategic importance in a context that is free from national pressures.
