H.E. Rhoda Peace Tumusiime is the former Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture at the African Union Commission (AUC).
H.E. Rhoda Tumusiime holds a Master’s Degree in Economics, Planning and Managing Rural Development.
She worked with the African Union as a Commissioner for Rural Economy & Agriculture from 2008 to 2017. Her roles then covered multiple ministerial sectors ranging from crop agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, land, water, environment, climate change, climate services, disaster risk reduction to rural development. Food and nutrition security are critical for the African population.
Currently, she plays a key role in policy engagement and helps to craft strategies that will spur the agriculture sector in the drive for its transformation and sustainable development on the continent. She also serves in leadership positions of various bodies in Africa and outside. She strongly advocates for food and nutrition security, inclusion of youth and women in the agribusiness value chains as a driver for poverty eradication.
