Dr Ashok Gulati is the Infosys Chair Professor for Agriculture at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). 

Ashok is an Indian agricultural economist and has been deeply involved in policy advice in India for many years. He was the youngest member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee; Member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Chief Minister of Andrea Pradesh and Member of the State Planning Board of Karnataka. For his contributions to the field, the President of India honoured him with a ‘Padma Shri award’ in 2015.

Prior to joining ICRIER, he was Chairman of the Commission for Agriculture Costs and Prices (CACP), Government of India; Director at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He has 14 books and several research papers on Indian and Asian agriculture to his credit and he is a prolific writer on agri-policies.
