Hawa S Diop is a Communications Manager at IFPRI's West and Central Africa Office.
She leads the communication work for IFPRI's West and Central Africa Office including its key programmes: the Malabo Montpellier Panel and the Regional Strategic Analysis & Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS). Hawa graduated from Sorbonne University in France. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Science and an MA in American Studies.
Her experience includes years of Communication expertise for the SITWA Project, a European Union funded project managed by the Global Water Partnership and OMVS (Senegal River Authority) and consultancy for other International organizations including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNFPA, ICRC, etc.
Prior to SITWA she was the Communication Coordinator for IFPRI’s West and Central Africa Office. She has a strong experience in Internal and External Communications: organization of high level conferences, press conferences, management of public relations, monitoring websites and Social Media as well as management of research publications processes.
As a bilingual journalist, she used to work at the Senegalese National television (RTS) in Dakar, where she hosted a weekly news magazine in English, was a reporter and anchor for the French TV news and correspondent for the Australian broadcasting services (SBS).
